Downtown Vancouver’s Cheap Korean Coffee Shop on Dunsmuir Closes After Just a Year

A cheap Korean coffee chain has quietly closed its first downtown Vancouver shop, about a year after it opened.

theVenti at 509 Dunsmuir Street has now gone dark.

We walked by during its usual opening hours and found the blinds down and the lights off in the middle of the day.

Its Google listing is now marked permanently closed.

No closing date or reason has been announced, but it looks to have shut down in late September.

theVenti opened here on September 5, 2025, and at the time it was the chain’s third Canadian location and its first in Vancouver proper.

It took over the old Hey I Am Yogost unit, which had quietly closed earlier that summer.

That makes two quiet exits from the same storefront in a little over a year.

Through the glass, the screens that hung above the counter have been taken down.

A ladder and a hand truck sit on the floor.

The brand started in Busan in 2014 and grew into one of South Korea’s biggest grab-and-go coffee chains, with roughly 1,300 locations there when we covered the Dunsmuir opening.

Its pitch in Canada has been simple: oversized drinks at low prices.

When the West End shop opened in March, most of the menu came in under $5, with Korean-style drinks like the Misugaru Latte, made with multigrain powder, next to Americanos and cold brews.

That price is hard to find downtown, which is why this one stings a bit for office workers on this stretch.

The good news is the chain hasn’t left downtown entirely.

The Davie Street shop in the West End is still open, so that’s your closest theVenti now.

theVenti Dunsmuir joins other recent Vancouver closures like Kim House on West Pender and three downtown Starbucks stores, with Wildlight Kitchen + Bar at UBC set to follow on November 28.
