A Richmond all-you-can-eat sukiyaki restaurant appears to have quietly shut down, with no announcement from the team.
Kumo Sukiyaki, on Anderson Road, was found closed when a Noms Mag community member went by for a meal, and its Google listing now shows it as permanently closed.
Going by the most recent Google reviews, the restaurant seems to have closed in early October.

Those same reviews point to an odd change near the end, with Kumo switching to cash only about a month before it shut.
There’s been no word about the closure on Kumo’s Instagram.
Kumo opened in early 2023 as one of the few all-you-can-eat sukiyaki spots in the city.
The format was built around a shallow cast iron pot of sweet soy broth, with thin slices of beef and pork cooked quickly at the table and dipped in raw egg.
Tiers ran from pork belly and Angus short plate up to wagyu striploin, and at launch the top tier even came with a slice of A5.
Cabbage, tofu, mushrooms and yam noodles went into the pot alongside, with appetizers like takoyaki and ebi mayo on the side.
This is the second Kumo location to disappear in about a year.
The team opened a second spot on Alexandra Road in January 2025, and it closed in September 2025 without an announcement either.
That unit didn’t go to strangers, though.
Stone and Flow, the Guizhou restaurant that moved in, is also from the Kumo team, and it has been temporarily closed for about the last two months.
If you were holding a Kumo gift card or planning a group dinner, it’s worth calling ahead or checking the Instagram before making the drive, since nothing official has been posted.
Kumo Sukiyaki joins other recent Richmond closures like Pound Steak, Manzo and Sweet7.
