Another longtime downtown Vancouver food spot is closing its doors on Burrard Street.

Burgoo Bistro has announced that its downtown Vancouver location, connected to The Burrard boutique hotel, is shutting down after 10 years.

The comfort food chain shared the news on Instagram, asking regulars to swing by during the final days for one last bowl before the doors close for good.

“After 10 amazing years on Burrard Street, we have made the difficult decision to close our Burgoo Downtown location,” the post read.

“We want to sincerely thank the wonderful community and our neighbours for all the love and support you’ve shown over the years. We’d love for you to join us in our final days as we celebrate a decade of memories together.”

The closure comes just two months after Burgoo also shut down its North Vancouver outpost on Lonsdale Avenue, which had been running for 20 years before closing in late March.

Burgoo was founded back in December 2001 in Point Grey by Stephan MacIntyre, Justin Joyce, and Ken Carty.

The trio met playing ultimate frisbee and named the restaurant after a communal stew popular in the American South.

The menu has stayed focused on the same comfort-food lineup for more than two decades.

Hearty soups and stews, pot pies, mac and cheese, and pressed grilled cheese sandwiches have been the anchors across all locations.

With the downtown closure, Burgoo is now down to two locations: the original Point Grey shop on West 10th Avenue and the Mount Pleasant location on Main Street.

The Kitsilano location on West 4th Avenue also closed back in 2020.

Burgoo Downtown joins other recently closed food spots in Vancouver, including Popeyes Downtown, La Cerveceria Chinatown, and Manna Sushi.
