Vancouver just lost its very first Popeyes outpost.
The downtown location below the CBC Vancouver building has permanently closed, with signs on the door confirming the shutdown.
This is the first Popeyes closure in Vancouver since the Louisiana fried chicken chain landed in the city in 2023.

The shuttered storefront was tucked into the ground floor of the CBC Vancouver tower and took over the previous Triple O’s.
The notice on the door directs customers to the nearest open Popeyes, of which there are still several across the region.

The notice states that the “decision has not been made lightly”.
The chain has been on a steady Vancouver expansion since this CBC outpost first opened in 2023, adding new stores in various neighbourhoods like Metrotown, Richmond, Main Street, West Broadway, and Granville Street.
The brand was founded in 1972 in New Orleans and is now owned by Restaurant Brands International, the Canadian parent company also behind Tim Hortons and Burger King.

Now that this Hamilton outpost is gone, the next-closest Popeyes for downtown workers is along Granville Street.
No word yet on what is taking over the unit, but it does appear that they’ve begun the initial renovations inside.
We will keep an eye on the listing and update if a new tenant signs.
Popeyes Downtown now joins a growing list of recently closed Vancouver food spots, including La Chuoi, Los Chavos, and Fortune Lamb Dining.
