Like in Spring, there’s been a recent influx of closures as the city’s leaves begin to change colours and move into the slower season.
Unfortunately today we have to share another food business that has announced their closure.
This time it is Unique Bakery, an artisanal Asian bakery known for its low-sugar and low-oil bread.
They have shared on Chinese social media on September 22, 2024 that they have officially closed its original Burnaby Brentwood location.
The bakery, which first opened its doors in 2020, built a loyal following for its healthy, handcrafted bread made using an ancient natural fermentation process.
Offering items like Korean ice scones, Japanese bagels, and European bread in unique flavours like pistachio, earl grey, matcha, and black sesame.
However, after expanding into Richmond in July 2024, the bakery’s owner made the difficult decision to close the Burnaby store.
In a heartfelt post on their Chinese social media, they explained that while running multiple bakeries had always been a dream, managing two locations proved to be too overwhelming.
As a result, the decision was made to focus fully on the new Richmond outpost.
Although the Burnaby location is officially closed, customers can still enjoy Unique Bakery’s offerings through their Richmond store and online delivery service.
Existing membership card holders will remain valid both online and at the Richmond location.
