The corner at Lansdowne Centre that used to be a post office counter now sells ice cream cakes.
Baskin Robbins opened inside the Richmond mall on July 31, and we walked in on its first day of business.
The unit sits directly across from the T&T Supermarket entrance, in the space the Express Lane post office used to hold.
We wrote about this one back in January, when the signage went up with nothing on it but the words made you look.
The signage is down now and the glass is open on two sides.
Inside, it splits cleanly into two jobs.
One side is the scoop case, a long row of tubs under glass with the flavour cards propped in front of them.
Icing on the Cake, World Class Chocolate, Rainbow Sherbet, Wild ‘n Reckless.
The other side is the cake fridge, sitting under a pink sign that reads The Cakery.
That case is doing the heavy lifting visually, stacked three shelves deep with ice cream cakes in pastel buttercream, cones pressed into the tops, and a chocolate drip version ringed in Oreos.
There is one thing worth knowing before you queue.
A small sign taped to the case says the counter is cashless.
This is the second Baskin Robbins running in Richmond right now.
The other opened at Ironwood Plaza late in 2025, which was the brand’s return to the city after a stretch away, and there was a Broadmoor location years before that.
The chain itself dates to 1945 and built its whole identity on 31 flavours, one for each day of the month.
The Lansdowne opening also crosses a name off the mall’s incoming list.
One Cafe opened here in July as well, which means two of the announced arrivals have now landed within weeks of each other.
Two more are still pending in the food court, Roastory BBQ and Freshly Squeezed.
That is a lot of movement for one mall in one summer, and it is happening while Lansdowne loses tenants at the other end.
Happy Lamb Hot Pot closed its Lansdowne location on July 21 and has not opened its replacement yet.
Baskin Robbins Lansdowne now joins other recently opened Richmond food spots like Oakberry, POCO RIT, and Pika Herb.
