The Burnaby food court HK-style cafe rumours have officially turned into a Day 1 line that’s already INSANE.
One Cafe (正斗) has quietly soft opened its Crystal Mall food court stall, which marks the popular cha chaan teng chain’s first location outside Richmond.
We walked by on the first day and the queue was already huge.
This is the same Hong Kong On The Go concept that locals already know from Parker Place and Empire Centre in Richmond, with a third Richmond stall currently in the works at the Lansdowne Centre food court.
Crystal Mall is their fourth, and their very first Burnaby food court address.
We covered the expansion back in March, when the unit was still just a Coming Soon sign and a construction wall taped over what used to be Mad Chicken.
The good news for fans is that the menu pretty much mirrors the Richmond stalls.
The Famous All Day Breakfast sets are all here, with the signature satay beef, dried pork, BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, and pan-fried pork chop, served on your choice of macaroni, spaghetti, baked rice, or instant noodle.
The baked rice and spaghetti lineup gets a rebrand here.
It’s now the Molten Gold Heat Series, with classics like baked pork chop with tomato sauce, baked seafood with cheese in cream sauce or Portuguese curry sauce, and Korean cream cheese baked beef short rib.
There’s also a Duo Combo Rice or Pasta section that pairs things like New York steak, pink fillet cutlet, pan-fried chicken or pork chop, and golden fried chicken wings.
The Nissin Stirred Instant Noodle bowls are on the wall too.
Thirteen bucks gets you a Nissin bowl with your sauce of choice (scallion oil, cheese, or spicy mala) and a meat add-in like fried chicken, pork chop, beef brisket, smoked duck breast, or pork liver.
Hours are 8:30 am to 7 pm, Monday to Sunday, with a takeout hotline at (604) 568-1188.
One Cafe Crystal Mall now joins a recent run of new Burnaby food openings, including Memory Corner, Tiramisu Republic, and Alfa Tea.
