Vancouver’s Top Japanese Ramen Chain Is Finally Opening on Main Street

One of the top ramen chains in the city is landing on Main Street!

We just spotted new signage up for Ramen Danbo, the Japanese chain that pulls a line out the door at every single one of its Vancouver shops, is FINALLY making the expansion to Main.

The Main Street unit lands right beside the upcoming TURF and the recently opened Jo’s Italian on Main and E 24th.

For the unfamiliar, Danbo already runs three locations across the city right now, with shops on Robson Street, in Kitsilano, and in Kerrisdale that are all worth knowing.

The Kitsilano shop was actually the chain’s very first Canadian location, opening back in spring 2015.

Every one of them has lines up at peak hours.

This will make Main Street the chain’s fourth Vancouver shop and fifth in Metro Vancouver.

Danbo started in Fukuoka in 2000 and built itself on a tonkotsu system that leans hard into customization.

You pick your noodle thickness, your noodle firmness, your broth thickness, and your broth richness before the bowl is built.

The Hakata-style tonkotsu is what the brand is best known for.

It is a cloudy pork bone broth simmered for long hours, and it tends to come out heavy enough to coat the noodles on the way up, with a milky pork weight that lingers between bites.

Main Street has few ramen options, so Danbo’s arrival will be one that locals in the area will be very happy about.

No opening date has been announced.

Ramen Danbo Main Street joins a growing list of upcoming Vancouver openings that includes Angus T West End, Namba Curry, and Lee’s Donuts Langara.
