After a year, Menya Juemon, the sister spot of Maruhachi Ramen, is undergoing a major transformation.
The ramen shop has transitioned fully into Onigiri Ya, a grab-and-go concept specializing in handmade onigiri that debuted early this month inside the ramen shop.
This is in effect as of September 23rd, 2024.
Menya Juemon opened back in September 2023 and was not just a sequel to Maruhachi, but rather an entirely unique culinary adventure.
The approach at Juemon focused on a broth where its umami is enhanced by combining multiple elements.
The Onigiri Ya aims to bring an affordable and high-quality meal option for the local community and commuters, featuring freshly made onigiri daily.
From the response on social media, it has been well received.
Onigiri Ya offers a range of onigiri starting at just $1.99, with premium options available at $2.99.
Their menu is set to feature a wide variety of flavours, from familiar classics like tuna mayo and salmon to unique options such as unagi cream cheese and pork kimchi.
The shop also provides additional items like tonjiru (pork and veggie miso soup) and bentos for those seeking a more substantial meal.
For ramen lovers, don’t worry—many of Menya Juemon’s popular ramen dishes will be now available at Maruhachi Ramen’s seven locations across Metro Vancouver.
So while Menya Juemon may be transforming, you’ll still be able to enjoy their signature ramen at other spots.
This change marks the end of Menya Juemon’s ramen service at the West Broadway location, but transformation brings a fresh and affordable option for locals looking to grab a quick bite on the go.
Another upside to the change is that Onigiri Ya will now extend its hours – from just only open in the mornings to now until 2PM on weekdays.
They are also gearing up to open on weekends.
