This Burnaby Food Court Stall Reopened Just a Week After Shutting Down

Barely a week after it served what looked like its final customers, a Brentwood food court stall is already back.

O’Kitchen, the Hong Kong-style stall in Amazing Brentwood’s TABLES food court, has reopened after reaching a new deal with the mall.

Several Noms Magazine community members spotted the return, along with a “Welcome back” notice on the stall’s screens that laid out the plan.

The team says it has reached a deal with the mall owners to extend its lease for another five years.

That five-year extension is what turned a final goodbye into a fresh start.

The comeback was marked by a soft reopening that ran Friday to Sunday, with 20% off all regular-priced items during that period (which is now over) .

It was a fast turnaround.

O’Kitchen served what looked like its last customers on May 29, closing with a message that its lease was coming to an end.

The closure read as final at the time, with the lease notice running on the same screens that now flash a welcome-back message.

That made this comeback a genuine surprise, since most food court goodbyes do not get a sequel, and for regulars who already said goodbye it is a rare reversal.

The TABLES food court sits inside the redeveloped Amazing Brentwood, wired straight into the Brentwood SkyTrain station, which makes the stall an easy stop for commuters and mall crowds.

For anyone who missed it the first time, O’Kitchen opened in Fall 2024 in the former Chef Hung space.

It runs as a cha chan teng, mixing Cantonese comfort food with Western diner staples on one long menu.

The board leans into that mix, with pan-fried egg udon soups topped with luncheon meat, chicken steak, or pork chop, plus grilled eel on rice, curry chicken or beef on rice, and a pork cutlet with onion sauce over spaghetti.

Most plates sit around $16 at regular price, the kind of one-dish comfort meals built for a quick food court lunch.

O’Kitchen’s return brings life back to a TABLES food court that has been thinning out fast, recently losing Soon Coffee and, earlier this spring, the tonkatsu chain Saboten.
