Exciting news for banh mi lovers!
Saigon Bites, a well-reviewed spot known for its fresh banh mi and authentic Vietnamese coffee, has just soft-opened a new location in East Vancouver on July 15th.
This cozy café, loved for its crispy, soft buns and flavourful fillings, is expanding from its original Kingsway spot in Burnaby to Renfrew Street and 1st Avenue.
Noms community member @fkancold spotted the signage for the new location earlier this month.
Saigon Bites was started by local Real Estate Advisor Christy Huynh back in November 2022.
Fans rave about their fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced banh mi, with ten different options like the meatball special, classic cold cut, chicken lover, and tofu vegetarian.
Plus, their wide variety of drinks, including Northern-style Vietnamese egg coffee, salted cream coffee, pandan coffee, ube coffee, and bubble tea, has won many hearts.
The new Renfrew location takes over a former Sharetea unit and features a stylish, cozy interior.
Unlike the brighter palette of the Kingsway spot, this new café sports a chic black background with bold lettering and a striking red mural proclaiming their slogan, “Love at first bite.”
During our quick visit, we found the space spacious and the menu mirrored their Burnaby outpost.
As locals continue to feel the pinch of their wallets, due to the economy, affordable spots like Saigon Bites and other banh mi joints have been a godsend.
That’s likely the reason why these joints have been expanding throughout the city!
