Unfortunately, we’ve got another change up happening in Downtown Vancouver to share.
Thanks to our Noms Mag community member Yum Chah, they spotted a closure notice has popped up at VietSub’s West End location.
According to the notice, the longtime Vietnamese restaurant has now closed as of February 4th.
For those unfamiliar, VietSub had two locations—one by Japadog on Robson (which has been a go-to takeout spot since 2012), and the one we’re talking about right now in the West End that opened in 2016 as a full-service restaurant.
According to our research, the son handles the takeout location.
Like any good mom-and-pop Vietnamese joint, they served up iconic dishes like pho, banh mi, spring rolls, lemongrass chicken on rice, and even had a plenty of vegetarian options.
But don’t panic just yet—this isn’t a complete goodbye.
According to the closure notice, VietSub is rebranding into Plus 84 Vietnamese Bistro, which is set to open this March 2025.
“We feel the time is right to embark on a fresh culinary adventure with a new concept, ‘Plus 84 Vietnamese Bistro,’ which will feature simple, Vietnamese fusion mains, sandwiches, and vegetarian for eat-in or takeout,” reads the notice.
The owners also assured customers that this isn’t a permanent farewell, saying, “It’s not goodbye forever, just for now. We look forward to welcoming you to our new space and sharing our passion for delicious food in a refreshed environment at ‘Plus 84 Vietnamese Bistro.’”
So while we say goodbye to VietSub’s West End location, we won’t have to wait long for its next chapter.
Plus 84 will be joining Northwestern Thai newcomer Sainam as part of this spring’s fresh lineup of openings in the West End.
