You Can Get Viet Coffee For 17 Cents With This New Cafe Membership

If you are someone who regularly orders Vietnamese coffee, this is probably the best deal in the city right now.

And you’ll want to get in on it before it goes away.

Earlier this week, a local creator on TikTok and Noms Mag community member shared about Hanoi Drip’s new membership program.

As you’d expect from a cafe membership, it offers you a select number of items for a monthly cost.

In this case, it is six 16 ounce drink every month, capped at one per day for $25 a month.

But the kicker?

There’s a starter promo right now where for the first month, the cost is only $1.

And on top of the six monthly drinks, members get one free drink for a friend each month, another free drink on their birthday with ID, access to a secret menu, 15% off merch and coffee bags, and first word on new menu items and events.

The page says you can cancel anytime.

It is easy to run the math and compare it to its regular price.

At $25 a month, six drinks work out to about $4.17 each or just 17 cents per drink in the first month.

That is a great deal, since every drink at Hanoi Drip costs more than $6.50.

And that’s before you even count the free friend drink, the birthday drink or the merch discount.

Now, having such a starter promotion isn’t new in today’s subscription-heavy landscape.

But a local coffee chain doing it is very uncommon and could be bogged down by a terrible experience.

Since it is just $1, I had to give it a try myself to see if it is the real deal.

We signed up on the membership page before hopping into their Richmond location.

To redeem one of your free monthly drinks, you log into your membership account, then press the perk you want to redeem.

It then asks which location you are at and to show a specific onscreen coupon to the front staff.

Once they’ve confirmed the offer, you simply let them know which drink you want to order.

After that, the staff began making our Viet coffee with matcha cream foam on top.

And like a regular order, they called our number, and we got our drink without any difficulties.

It was a rather simple process and it further cements this as an absolute no-brainer to get for the $1 starter deal at least.

We haven’t tried canceling yet, but it seems that it could be done online via your membership page like any other subscription service.

For anyone who has not been, Hanoi Drip is a Vietnamese coffee shop built around phin drip, the slow metal filter that sits on top of the cup and takes its time.

It runs three Metro Vancouver locations, on Rupert Street in East Vancouver, in Mount Pleasant, and on Bridgeport Road in Richmond.

Every one of the Hanoi Drip locations are connected to a Ba Le, meaning you can also purchase a banh mi if you’re looking for an actual meal.

Drinks are redeemable at any of the three, which matters more than it sounds for a membership you are supposed to use six times a month.

One caveat worth stating plainly.

There is no published end date for the $1 starter promo, so it could close whenever the company decides it has enough signups.

Hanoi Drip’s membership lands in a stretch where Vancouver cafes are still mainly stuck on stamp cards, and this is the most aggressive starter price we have seen attached to one.
