An affordable Richmond Chinese restaurant serving breakfast sets through to iron pots and skewers closes October 26 and hands over to a new operator.
A Noms Mag community member (Alan) spotted a closure notice taped to the door of Once More Restaurant, 老地方, at 8231 Ackroyd Road.
The notice is written in Chinese, dated October 9, and opens by thanking customers for their love and support over many years.
Its key line is plain: “本店将于 2026 年 10 月 26 日正式歇业并转让交接新的经营者。”
In English, the restaurant will officially close on October 26, 2026, and transfer the business to a new operator.
Who that operator is, and what they plan to run in the space, hasn’t been announced.
There’s a catch for regulars.
The notice says any unspent VIP stored-value balance can be refunded in store, or spent before the October 26 handover.
Members with money left on their accounts are asked to reach out to staff soon so the refund can be sorted.
Once More opened in 2022 and bills itself as authentic Northeastern Chinese cooking with Sichuan-Hunan flavours.
The menu leans to the hearty side: braised beef grilled pan, braised chicken with wild mushrooms, crispy sweet and sour pork and a Northeast mung bean noodle salad, alongside bold, spicy Sichuan-Hunan dishes.
A big draw here was the affordable breakfast sets, which started as low at $10.99 and up to $15.99.
The listing sums up the pitch as cooking “full of wok hei, warmth, and the taste of home.”
Longtime locals may remember the unit as a Nando’s.
The PERi-PERi chicken chain ran its Richmond Ackroyd location here for years, then closed it and relocated to Garden City Road.
The space has turned over a few times since, and Once More is now handing it on again.
