For fans of the iconic anime series Initial D and car enthusiasts, some sad news.

We noticed that Fujiwara Tofu Shop in Richmond, which opened its doors in 2022, has shut down and in process of switching to another food joint.

The interior of the shop was a tribute to the world of Initial D, featuring a large wall mural with panels from the manga and looping music from Jay Chou.

The shop’s menu offered a variety of sweet desserts, including sweet tofu dessert, mango shaved ice, and tofu cheesecake.

A special promotion also rewarded customers who drove Japanese cars with a free topping.

However, the journey was not without its bumps.

In September 2023, Vancouver Coastal Health closed the shop due to five critical infractions, including signs of rodent infestation and concerns over the sanitary handling of food, utensils, and equipment.

Despite its appeal to fans, Fujiwara Tofu Shop struggled with low ratings.

Many reviews criticized the shop for its high prices, lack of cleanliness, and mediocre taste.

The signage of the shop has already been replaced, signaling the arrival of a new restaurant, Hu Da Restaurant.
