Two Vancouver coffee shops just landed on a major continental ranking, and one of them cracked the top five.
Nemesis Coffee has been named the 4th best coffee shop in North, Central America and the Caribbean as part of the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list.
That puts the Vancouver staple ahead of nearly every coffee shop across the United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Only three shops in the entire region ranked higher.
Cowdog in Kitsilano also made the list, landing at number 80, giving Vancouver two representatives on the continental ranking.
A total of 16 Canadian coffee shops made it onto the regional ranking, making Canada one of the most represented countries on the list.
The rankings are determined by a combination of public votes and an expert panel, with 30% of the final score coming from the public and 70% from expert evaluations.
Shops are judged across eight categories including quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambience, sustainability practices, food and pastry quality, and community.
This is not the first time Nemesis has shown up on a major list this year.
We previously reported that Nemesis Coffee was ranked No. 15 on the global World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops list, where only three Canadian shops made the cut.
For Nemesis, landing 4th on the continental list and 15th globally is a serious statement for a Vancouver coffee shop competing against some of the biggest names in the world.
It is worth noting that Nemesis is not just a coffee shop in the traditional sense.
The team has built a reputation around its food program as well, with a menu that goes well beyond the usual cafe fare, which likely plays into the food and pastry quality category of the judging criteria.
And they come off the recent launch of Dope Bakehouse North Van and Bam Bam.
Cowdog making the list at 80th is also a notable win for the Kitsilano spot, putting it among the top coffee destinations across the entire region.
