Heads up, cheese lovers!
A new recall has just been announced that might affect what’s sitting in your fridge right now.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a Class 1 food recall warning for Natural Pastures Cheese Company’s Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall was announced on July 21, 2025, and impacts products distributed in British Columbia and Ontario.
The cheese is sold in variable sizes with Batch #854 179, and although no illnesses have been reported so far, the warning is considered serious.
After all, listeria is no joke.
The bacteria may not change the look or smell of your food, but it can still make you seriously sick.
Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, and neck stiffness.
Vulnerable groups like pregnant women, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems face the highest risk, with infections potentially leading to miscarriage or even death in extreme cases.
What you should do:
- Do not consume the recalled cheese
- Check your fridge for Batch #854 179
- Return it or toss it – don’t even think about risking it
- Contact your doctor if you think you’ve gotten sick from the product
The CFIA says the recall was triggered after a routine food safety test detected the contamination.
They’re now verifying that all affected items are being removed from stores.
