10. Chef Big D’s Deli

Looking for a comfortable, no frills, neighbourhood diner experience? Chef Big D is the locals’ favourite when it comes to simple, wholesome and tasty food, prepared fresh and natural.  They have some witty and friendly staff, and a very family-like vibe. The food portions here are huge and generous, and well worth the price. All their bread is baked in house, so it’s always fresh, and a large portion of their clientele is local which we all know means it’s worth a visit.

Their Crab Cake Benny’s are to die for. Really, we’re not kidding. Two poached eggs on crab cakes covered in hollandaise. It’s divine! Try their Veggie burger too, a local favourite with roasted red peppers, avocados, spinach feta and roast garlic mayo. With so many choices here, you’re bound to find something that tickles your fancy, and when in doubt, always go with their signature classic Cheese Burger, or the Chef’s club. 

Tip: Get a loaf of the house-made sourdough bread to go.

The Howe Sound Brew Pub is much more than just your typical North West pub fare. It’s an experience like no other. Attached to the Howe Brewery and Inn, the Pub is an amazing stop to sample various locally produced beers and ciders, and enjoy freshly prepared food, (many of which have Howe beer in the recipe.) You can eat at the Brewpub, the restaurant or the Patio, and all have beautiful views of the mountains.

The Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is a favourite here, along with the Brewpub burger and the Brewers Select Pizza. The Beer Battered Fish and Chips are worth a try, and so is their mouthwatering Coconut Panna Cotta. Having a brewery means the HSBP always has seasonal ales with various underlying flavours and some highly creative cocktails. A dream come true for beer lovers everywhere.

7. Joe’s Pesto Woodfired Pizzeria

Head on to downtown Squamish and try out Joe’s Pesto, an authentic New York style Pizzeria with pies baked in a traditional Neapolitan style woodfire brick oven. This spot has some of the friendliest staff you can find, amazing beer and cider on tap, and fresh handcrafted inhouse dough for the perfect crispy-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside finish any good pizza should have. We loved their Pearfect, with just the right blend of sweet and sour. It has caramelized pears, prosciutto, grana padano, soft goat feta with a balsamic drizzle. 5. Mag’s 99 Fried Chicken and Mexican Cantina

Mag’s 99 does two things really well. Fried Chicken and Mexican Food! This isn’t your typical fast food joint where you get your order in five minutes. Everything at Mag’s is made on order. They use the freshest ingredients and take great pride in never using frozen meat, chicken or fish. The food at Mag’s is delicious, highly affordable and has generous portions in each serving.

The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy inside without being greasy. The tostadas are a delicate combination of both sweet and savoury. What we yearn to sink our teeth in is their most popular dish, the magnificent Chimichangas, which are so good, you’ll want to take some home with you, and you should! If you’re really really hungry then go for the Burrito Maximus. Like the name says, it’s huge and delicious.
