The Metrotown area in Burnaby has become known as the new “Hot Pot Alley” with over a dozen options within a five-block radius. However, Richmond isn’t looking to lag behind the hot pot craze as the city is about to welcome a popular hot pot brand: Big Way Hot Pot.
The rising hot pot chain first opened its doors on Kingsway in 2021 by an experienced mom-and-pop duo. With previous experience at Boiling Point and Dolarshop, it’s no surprise that Big Way has seen such meteoric success and love from locals.
One of the unique aspects of Big Way Hot Pot is its self-serve style. Customers grab a pot and tongs to choose from almost 100 different toppings like seafood, vegetables, and noodles. After selecting their desired toppings, customers then choose a soup base and weigh their pot to determine the price. Depending on how hungry or heavy the toppings are, the meal can vary in price.
To complete the meal, customers can choose from one of many drink options – ranging from teas to milk teas to even spiked versions – and end things off with a nice refreshing ice cream cone.
Big Way Hot Pot is expanding aggressively with multiple locations in the works. While their upcoming Richmond location is still months away from being completed, it will be located in a central area that many people will love.
Their team has informed us that the Richmond location is estimated to open before the end of May. To keep each outpost fresh, a different interior design is used to represent a variety of demographics and multicultural elements.
The new location will be situated across from Lansdowne Centre in the same plaza as Sun Sui Wah and right next door to ITofu.
This means that if customers are somehow still hungry after their hot pot meal, they can walk next door for some tofu dessert or two stores down to Icy Bar for some frozen desserts – making it a perfect spot for foodies who love variety.
