This Viral “Cube Cup” Fruit Tea Brand Has Finally Opened its First BC Location

If you thought Richmond reached “Peak Bubble Tea” already, a new arrival is here to prove there is still room for innovation.

YOTEA, the Shenzhen-based fruit tea giant, has officially soft opened its first BC location in Richmond.

Meanwhile the brand already has 3 locations in Toronto.

They have taken over the former Chase Tea unit at Continental Plaza.

While there are dozens of fruit tea spots in the city, this one arrives with a specific visual gimmick that has made it a viral hit in China.

They serve their drinks in signature “Cube Cups”: tall, thick rectangular vessels that look more like a vase or a protein bottle than a standard bubble tea cup.

But the shape isn’t just for aesthetics.

The brand is known for packing these cubes with huge chunks of fresh-cut fruit, so much so that each drink comes with a specialized branded fork to fish them out.

According to their team, the soft opening menu is strategically divided by cup size.

The massive “Max Cube” is reserved for their signature fruit teas, while the “Large Cube” is used for lemon teas and slushes.

We tried the Signature Black Fruit Tea, and it was definitely a refreshing one.

It’s an interesting combo of a drink and a fruit salad infused with high-quality tea, justifying the need for that fork.

This opening is a significant move for the brand, which started in 2014 and now sells over 10 million cups annually across its 60+ locations in China.

During the current soft opening phase, the shop is operating daily from 2 PM to 9 PM.

YOTEA joins a rapidly refreshing lineup of new spots in Richmond, including the just-opened O’Bistro Tianjin and The Seoulful.

If you want to be one of the first to try the “Cube Cup” experience in Vancouver, head to Continental Plaza now.
