Back in April 2024, we reported that Main Street’s Alphabet Street and Bing Taco had suddenly closed their doors after five years of operation.
With such a prime location, it left many locals wondering what would take its place.
Well, we now know who’s stepping into that space—Heritage Asian Eatery!
Originally launched in 2016 in Downtown Vancouver’s bustling Financial District, Heritage quickly became a go-to for those craving casual Chinese noodles, BBQ and dishes.
They originally had a second location along West Broadway, but closed down due to the Broadway Skytrain construction.
Now they’re keeping their promise to the community and returning to Mount Pleasant with this new Main Street outpost.
But unlike its previous more casual cafeteria-esque format, they’ll be returning with a more lux experience.
Interior wise the new 82-seat Heritage Restaurant and Bar is a blend of contemporary and traditional Chinese elements.
You’ll find a cozy, intimate vibe with dark wooden dividers and plush, green velvet seating. The tables are sleek with black marble surfaces, creating a chic yet relaxed feel.
Warm lighting from modern, cone-shaped lamps adds to the ambiance, while the woven green chairs and soft beige banquettes provide a comfortable contrast.
A striking large-scale mural and a semi-open kitchen will create an inviting atmosphere, perfect for both casual meals and special celebrations.
“We are excited to bring a new dimension to the Heritage brand with our Main Street location,” says Paul Zhang. “Our goal is to create a space where guests can savour the rich flavours of Chinese cuisine in a modern and vibrant setting. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our new home on Main.”
The menu will showcase familiar signature dishes, including Chinese BBQ, dim sum, and baos that Heritage fans have come to adore.
Some standout items you can expect include Peking Duck sourced from Fraser Valley, served with handmade crepes and hoisin sauce, alongside fresh Dungeness Crab and Nova Scotia Lobster dishes featuring housemade kombu butter.
But it’s not just about the food—the beverage program is equally impressive, led by beverage director Derek Granton.
With an inventive cocktail list and a curated selection of local wines and craft beers, including a special collaboration brew with Vancouver’s Slow Hand, your dining experience will be as refreshing as it is satisfying.
The new Heritage Asian Eatery and Bar is slated to open October 8th and will be joining the growing list of modern restaurant bars dotting the Mount Pleasant area.
