Lunar New Year is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by enjoying some delicious dim sum with the family?
Pink Pearl Restaurant, in the Strathcona neighbourhood, is a great option to do just that!
For the uninitiated, Pink Pearl is one of Vancouver’s longest-running Chinese restaurants (since 1980) and we love how it OOZES with nostalgia. From its huge circular white-clothed banquet tables to the scantron-like menu sheet with a dull no.2 pencil to the dim sum pushcarts…it really brings back memories.
You bet that seeing the dim sum pushcarts makes us squeal in excitement every time – especially when the pushcart auntie skyrockets our confidence by calling us leng jai (pretty boy in Cantonese). #iykyk
And all this feeling of nostalgia makes Pink Pearl definitely more special than the newer dim sum spots in the city.
When it comes to their dim sum you’ll find all the classics and then some. Such as: Har Gao (Shrimp Dumplings), Siu Mai (Pork Shrimp Dumplings), Daan Tat, Cheung Fun (Rice Rolls), Cha Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun), Lo Mai Gai (Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf), and more!
Although Pink Pearl doesn’t have any special menus going on this Lunar New Year, they do have Steamed Sweet Rice Cakes, Steamed Daikon Cakes, and Steamed Taro Cakes available.
So if you’re looking for a fuss-free, authentic and affordable dim sum experience to kick off a year of happiness and prosperity, Pink Pearl is your spot for the Lunar New Year.
