Okay, Potato Corner fans, remember when we told you their Aberdeen Centre spot in Richmond mysteriously closed earlier this month?
Well, the situation just went from bad to worse.
It looks like it wasn’t just an isolated closure – the popular Filipino chain known for the “World’s Best Flavoured Fries” actually quietly shuttered ALL of its locations across British Columbia.
Following our report on the Richmond closure, a Noms Mag community member saw that Potato Corner’s original BC location on Kingsway (which first opened back in 2019) was also tagged as permanently closed on Google.
We swung by during regular daytime hours, and sure enough, the Kingsway outpost was dark and definitely shut down.
The plot thickens further.
After some digging online, we found comments from customers mentioning that the Surrey location has also been found unexpectedly closed during times it was supposed to be open.
What makes this extra strange is the radio silence from the brand itself.
Their BC Instagram page hasn’t posted anything since March 30th and makes no mention of any closures.
Even weirder?
Trying to visit their homepage just redirects you straight to Google.com.
This pattern points to a complete, albeit very quiet, exit from the province.
This is a surprising end for a brand that seemed to be expanding just a couple of years ago, moving from Kingsway to Surrey, Richmond, and even operating food trucks at one point.
No more grabbing those signature shoestring, loopy, or waffle fries dusted with cheese, chili BBQ, or wasabi seasoning anywhere in BC, it seems.
It’s another sign of how challenging the current food scene can be, even for established international chains.
