A longtime Kitsilano high tea salon on West Broadway is closing after 13 years, with its last tea on December 31.
Neverland Tea Salon, at 3066 West Broadway near Balaclava Street, shared the news on Instagram on November 7.
“After 13+ glorious years, Neverland Tea Salon’s last high tea will be served on December 31st,” the team wrote.
The reason is the building.
The owners say “our lease is up, the building is scheduled for demolition.”
The salon sits on a block that Jim Pattison Developments plans to redevelop.
The City of Vancouver issued a development permit for the site on May 8, 2026, for a four-storey building with a grocery store on the main floor and 61 condos above.
We asked the team about it back then when the permit news broke out.
In February 2024, they told us they were secure until January 1, 2026, which gave them “plenty of time to find a new exciting location.”
They ended up staying a year past that date.
The closing post doesn’t name a new home, only this: “in the words of Peter Pan, It’s time to find a new awfully big adventure!”

Neverland opened in 2013, started by two childhood friends, Terri Tatchell and Renee Iaci.
Tatchell is the Oscar-nominated co-writer of District 9. Iaci comes from theatre, as an original founder of Shameless Hussy Productions.
They set out to build a women-led space with plenty of room for whimsy.
The menu changes with the seasons, and so do the themed teas, like for Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

The owners say they opened wanting to honour “all dietary choices,” and they thank guests for making the salon part of their celebrations and traditions.
The last run is the Holiday Masquerade High Tea, from November 24 to December 31.
The team expects reservations to fill fast, and is asking anyone with a Christmas tea tradition to book early for one last round.
Neverland joins other recent Vancouver closures like ZUBU Ramen, Tabom Korean Cuisine and Dingding Restaurant.
