A fresh new spot for music, food, and great vibes is on the way to Gastown!
We spotted bright orange signage for Amber at the corner of Gastown, and according to their Instagram, it’s “opening late fall 2025”.
Amber Kissa describes itself as music‑first: a cozy, sound‑forward room with food and great vibes.

For those unfamiliar, listening lounges originated in Japan in the 1950s, where they were known as “jazz kissa” — intimate bars where people gathered not to dance or socialize loudly.
But instead, you sit, sip, and listen to music on high-end sound systems.
Unlike typical nightlife spots, listening lounges are built around high-fidelity audio and atmosphere rather than loud music and chaotic energy.
The vibe is chill, intentional, and often paired with food and drinks to round out the sensory experience.
The concept fits perfectly into the Historic Anchor Hotel redevelopment at Powell & Columbia, a heritage restoration project that’s been quietly reshaping this corner of Gastown.
The building’s exposed brick, tall windows, and old‑meets‑new design make it an ideal backdrop for a place built around music and mood.
Through some digging, we found that partly behind this project is none other than Thomas Eleizegui, the GM and partner at West Vancouver’s Isetta Café Bistro.
He’s also the former operator of the beloved cycling cafe, Musette.
Based on this, we’re guessing that his track record suggests that Amber will be a hit gathering spot for people who appreciate good sound, good design, and good company.
There’s also their next‑door companion on the way: Celeste, a petite smoothie and café bar from the same team.
It’s set to open right beside Amber in Gastown AND with another flagship planned for the Standard Building at Richards & Hastings.
Together, they’ll create a day-to-night experience, featuring coffee and smoothies by morning, and cocktails and curated playlists by evening.
Yep, Thomas has a lot of plans for downtown Vancouver coming!
Vancouver’s food scene keeps leveling up, and this lounge slides in with upcoming spots like Heavenly Desserts, Chaiiwala Robson, and C Market Coffee Main Street.
