A familiar name from Kitsilano has been spotted setting up shop on one of Vancouver’s busiest food corridors.
We spotted signage for TURF up along Main Street, right beside the recently opened Jo’s Italian Deli in the Mount Pleasant area.
TURF is a fitness studio and cafe hybrid known for combining workouts, food, and community under one roof which first launched in Kitsilano back in 2017.
The Main Street storefront is large, spanning what appears to be 3 units in a newer mixed-use building.
Window decals already show the TURF name in bold lettering, along with the words “Workout” and “Hangout” on different sections of the space, echoing the brand’s signature “Workout, Hangout, Takeout” concept.
No official opening date has been announced but recently on their Instagram, they teased that it is slated for Summer.
TURF quickly built a following for blending a fitness studio with a mostly-vegan kitchen, coffee bar, and retail shop all in the same space.
The cafe side of the business has been known for its whole-food-focused menu, serving toasts, salads, and brunch dishes made without refined sugar.
The brand previously expanded with a second location in Coal Harbour downtown, though that spot has since closed.
If the Main Street location follows the same format, it could bring a similar mix of fitness classes, a health-focused kitchen, and a retail component to the neighbourhood.
Main Street is getting an influx of new life as the busy street is seeing multiple new spots entering.
Just three stores down, Toronto brunch chain, Eggstatic, is opening its first BC location.
Both Cockney Kings and Jo’s Italian Deli has recently expanded to Main Street.
And up the street, Mitchie Matcha and C Market Coffee are in progress.
