The Richmond storefront that made headlines after a Tesla crashed into it has finally reopened, and it is now a shawarma shop.
Shawarma 2 Go opened its second location earlier this month at the corner of Westminster Highway and No. 3 Rd.
A Noms Mag community member first spotted the opening, and we went to check it out.

The unit has been fully renovated after sitting closed for over two years following the October 2023 incident, when a Tesla driven by an N driver slammed into what was then a Chung Chun Korean Rice Hot Dog shop.
The crash left a staff member seriously injured and the car fully lodged into the eatery. Chung Chun never reopened.
Inside, the space looks completely different now.
The interior has been rebuilt with wood slat paneling, terrazzo-style flooring, wicker pendant lights, and digital menu boards above the counter.

There is a small seating area by the front windows and a display case filled with fresh baklava near the register.
Shawarma 2 Go is a family-run Mediterranean spot with over 20 years of experience.
Their first location opened at Seafair Shopping Centre on No. 1 Road in Richmond, where they built a loyal following for their made-to-order falafels, hand-cut shawarma, and house-made dips.
The chef shared that they are one of the few shawarma spots willing to invest in higher quality ingredients and sauces to give the full experience.
The menu covers wraps, plates, and a fusion section with items like the Tombik, a Turkish-style puffy pita loaded with shawarma and garlic mayo, Saj Rolls with pressed thin bread and garlic sauce, a Lamb Shank Plate, Shawarma Nacho Fries, and a Shawarma Burrito.

The staff were welcoming when we visited, and the shawarma plate we got came loaded with seasoned rice, hummus, pita bread, pickled turnips, and a generous portion of hand-cut chicken shawarma drizzled with tahini sauce.
The No. 3 Road location puts Shawarma 2 Go in a much more central and visible spot compared to their Seafair location, right at one of Richmond’s busiest intersections.
Shawarma 2 Go now joins other recently opened Richmond food spots like Pho Capital, Miku River Rock, and Mino Sushi Conveyor.
