Another restaurant on Denman Street is calling it quits, and this one did not even make it a full year.
Handson Steak and Frites on Denman Street in the West End has announced it is shutting down.
The restaurant shared the news on Instagram last month with a post titled “A Final Note From Handson.”
In it, the team wrote that they are “bringing this chapter to a close” and that the final steak and frites service week will be announced soon.
No specific closing date has been confirmed yet.
We first covered Handson when it opened back in August 2025.
The concept was built around a focused menu of steak frites, with chef and owner Kyle Lee overseeing everything from butchery to the final plate.
The space featured an open kitchen with live finishing stations where diners could watch the cooking process up close.
It was a simple pitch.
Fire, steak, frites, done right. No distractions.
The restaurant opened in the former Ma Dang Goul space on Denman, and quickly became a neighbourhood spot for wine and steak nights.
The Instagram post was emotional.
“Thank you for every night, every table, every memory,” it read. The team invited people to come back one more time before the doors close for good.
But less than eight months later, the chapter is closing.
There is an unconfirmed tip from a community member suggesting the team may be looking at swapping to a different concept in the same space.
Nothing official has come out on that front, so we will have to wait and see.
What is harder to ignore is the pattern forming on this stretch of Denman.
On the same block, both Pho Q&M and Los Churros have quietly shut down in recent weeks.
The West End has seen a steady wave of restaurant turnover over the past year, and the closures keep stacking up.
Handson joins other recently closed food spots across Vancouver like Dix in Gastown, Purebread in Kitsilano, and Liu Yi Shou on Robson Street.
