There’s a new reason for Burrard Street office workers to take the escalator down before their first meeting, and it smells like butter.
Buttercrumbs, the Vancouver bakery brand built on melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies, has soft opened a Cookies & Tea Bar inside Bentall Centre at 502-595 Burrard St, running weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
Founder Agnes has been teasing a return to physical pop-ups for a while, and this is the payoff.
The brand started in February 2023 as an online bakery and built its following on buttery cookies and Asian-inspired treats, the kind of lineup that landed a collaboration with Melona, Korea’s top-selling ice bar brand, on a run of mochi muffins we covered back in 2024.
Until now, getting any of it meant pre-orders and pickup days.
The new counter takes over the former Taco Nori unit in the lower concourse, which puts it directly across from Dante, the Italian sandwich counter that opened there in February.
That corner of the concourse is quietly becoming a real food stop.
The menu here runs a variety of drinks alongside the signature butter cookies and a rotating cast of additional baked cookies.
The counter format means you can buy a treat on the spot instead of committing to a box.
The original pre-order model isn’t going anywhere either: their site still runs pickup spots in South Vancouver and downtown for the box orders.
For the financial district crowd, the practical read is simple: there’s now a matcha and butter cookie fix steps from the office towers, open exactly when the office day runs.
Buttercrumbs downtown joins a run of recently opened Vancouver spots like Ramen Danbo on Main Street, Salt & on Hamilton Street, and BBQ & Co on Cambie.
