If you’re looking for a good shawarma, then this is some great news for you!
One of our community members (@vancity_munchie) spotted signs that Alberta’s popular and highly rated shawarma chain—Jerusalem Shawarma—is coming to Vancouver’s Downtown core.
This will be their very first location in British Columbia, marking an exciting expansion for the family-run business beyond Alberta.
Jerusalem Shawarma’s roots date back to Palestine, where the grandfather of the family began the restaurant business in the mid-20th century in a small village.
Driven by a passion for food and hospitality, he developed unique recipes that brought delicious flavours to the village—including hummus, falafel, and, of course, their signature beef and chicken shawarma.
The recipes have since been passed down, creating the authentic flavours that Jerusalem Shawarma is known for today.
You can expect classic favs such as juicy beef and chicken shawarma wraps, fresh falafel, creamy hummus platters, and, of course, massive mixed plates that are perfect for sharing.
The chain, which has over 11 locations across Calgary and Edmonton, is known for its welcoming hospitality, generous portions, and authentic Palestinian flavours.
It is actually shocking (in a good way) to see just how well-received Jerusalem Shawarma is – with an average rating of 4.7 rating amongst all their locations.
That’s very rare for a chain of that size and with hundreds of legitimate reviews as well.
When we reshared the spotting from our community member, we’ve also had two individuals DM us vouching for the food and service of the brand.
That means Vancouverites are in for some great food!
The upcoming Vancouver location will be taking over the previous Paramount Fine Foods unit on Robson Street, which has been empty since June 2024.
No official opening date has been announced yet, so keep your eyes peeled as more information will eventually be released.
