North Burnaby is about to welcome a new all-day Italian destination as Dolce Amore Caffetteria officially opens its doors on October 4.
The modern Italian café is the latest project from La Famiglia Dolce Amore, the team behind The Gelato Mafia and LoLo Lounge.
Dolce Amore has roots that trace back to 2002, when the Grippo family first opened their gelateria on Commercial Drive.
In 2017, Daniela and Giancarlo reimagined the business as The Gelato Mafia, with their now-signature slogan “Naturally Made, Criminally Good.”
Since then, the family brand has expanded with LoLo Lounge in North Vancouver, home to Canada’s first affogato bar, and now this Burnaby culinary headquarters.
The Caffetteria is located in the same building as The Gelato Mafia’s TGM Terrazza, which launched this summer.
The space will be joined by Il Cappello Enoteca later this fall, completing a trio of Italian-inspired concepts under one roof.
Dolce Amore Caffetteria is designed to be a community hub, open daily from 7:30AM until 11PM.
Founders Daniela and Giancarlo Cusano say the goal is to create a space that feels like their favourite spots in Italy.
That means a space where people can stop by at different points in the day, for morning coffee or cornetto, a casual lunch, an afternoon pastry break, or an evening aperitivo.
The menu highlights Italian classics with a modern approach.
Guests will find housemade pastries like cornetti, double-baked croissants, pain au chocolat, and seasonal danishes, as well as desserts like tiramisu, cheesecakes, and cookies.
Artisanal breads and baguettes will be available for takeaway.
For something heartier, there will be Roman-style pizza al taglio, focaccia sandwiches, and savoury cornetti stuffed with prosciutto, burrata, and vegetables.
Coffee lovers can expect espresso made with beans sourced directly from Napoli, alongside a full lineup of Italian-inspired drinks that stretch into the evening.
With the launch of Dolce Amore Caffetteria, the family continues to grow its reputation for blending Italian tradition with community-focused hospitality.
