There’s a big chance you’ve seen those cashierless convenience stores in Asia popping up all over TikTok.
Well you can soon try it out yourselves!
Aisle 24, a zero-contact, cashierless grocery store, is making its way to Metro Vancouver.
Aisle 24, first established in 2015, is already a hit in Ontario and Quebec, with now 15 locations offering a 24/7 shopping experience.
But unlike the cashierless stores you see in Asia, Aisle 24 requires customers to download their mobile app and register for an account, granting access to the store at any hour of the day or night.
No lines, no waiting—just scan, shop, and go. Just like at a self checkout at a supermarket.
Think of it as a cashierless 7/11, where you can grab personal care items, non-perishables, and even fresh baked goods and deli products, restocked three times a week.
So far, five Aisle 24 locations are confirmed for Metro Vancouver, including spots in Coquitlam, Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, and Vancouver.
Their first store in the city will be located at the new development in the West End, Landmark on Robson.
While the exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s expected to launch later this year.
The big question on everyone’s mind is how Aisle 24 will handle theft in an era where self-checkout systems are far from foolproof.
But for those who want to avoid human interaction and make their grocery runs at odd hours, Aisle 24’s arrival is welcome news.
Don’t forget to share this with your late-night snack-loving friends!
