Vancouver dessert lovers, get ready!
Daan Go Cake Lab is opening a brand-new location in Vancouver, and yes you’ll be welcomed with their iconic, adorable cakes and whimsical desserts.
Founded in Toronto in 2017 by MasterChef Canada Season 7 winner Christopher Siu, Daan Go has since expanded to four locations in Ontario and one in Richmond, which opened in 2023.
Now the brand is making its way into Vancouver.
This new Vancouver shop will mark its second location in BC, and a fresh step in Chris’ mission to bring whimsy and creativity to the pastry world.
If you’ve visited the Richmond outpost, you already know Daan Go is known for showstopping sweets.
You would find their pastry cases filled with ramen bowls made of chocolate mousse and coffee jelly, or the Tira-Meow-Su, a cat-shaped dessert swimming in Vietnamese coffee and mascarpone cream and a whole lot more.
The new Vancouver location is set to open at inside the Diamond Robinson Building, and will be taking over the previous Skript Kitchen unit.
Chris shared with Noms Magazine that this opportunity came thanks to a friend, Renee, who is relocating Skript Kitchen to a new, larger space in Mount Pleasant.
“She generously left us her equipment to use, which made this opportunity possible.”
Unlike the Richmond shop, which has more of a retail cake boutique vibe, Chris says the new Vancouver space will lean into the cozy neighbourhood café feel.
Think croissants and coffee by day, birthday cake pickups by weekend.
While the core lineup of signature desserts will remain the same,including their colourful character macarons and mousse cakes, Chris teased a new idea in the works called “Will It Focaccia?”.
This is where customers can pitch any flavour they want to see reimagined into a focaccia creation.
It’s this mix of playfulness and precision that continues to define Daan Go’s approach.
Chris shares that the new outpost is set to open in early August.
The Vancouver Daan Go outpost will now join other upcoming food spots opening in the city like Kavita, UCHU, and Matcha Matcha.
