Popular Vancouver Asian-Inspired French Bakery Shop To Shut Down In 2025

Vancouver will have one less stellar bakery next year.

Remi Patisserie, known for its Asian-inspired French pastries, has announced that it will be closing its doors sometime in 2025.

When exactly in 2025 has yet to be determined.

Remi Patisserie has been a fixture on Cambie Street since pastry chef Remi Ho, opened his standalone storefront in 2020.

Before that, Remi shared a space inside Sweet Barrel, whipping up his iconic desserts that captured the hearts (and tastebuds) of many Vancouverites.

Whether it was his popular roll cakes, eclairs, or hojicha flans, Remi’s creations stood out as unique and delicious.

Our personal fav? The cloud cake and mango pomelo sago cake, which made multiple appearances at family birthdays.

The news of the closure came directly from Remi himself, who posted 2 announcements on Instagram in early October and last week.

In the announcement, Remi shared his journey of building Remi Patisserie from a small popup business in 2019 to the thriving, charming bakery it became.

“I started my business in 2019 as a pop-up business renting from a coffee shop and sharing the space with them,” Remi wrote.

“This bakery was my stepping stone. It gave me a lot of support that I needed to move forward and toward my dreams. If it wasn’t for this small little bakery, I would probably still be jumping ships, moving from one kitchen to another.”

The main reason behind Remi’s decision to close is rooted in a personal journey.

Remi has decided to focus on creating a life with his loved one.

With plans to follow her back to Japan, he intends to take on the challenge of moving to a new country, even though he doesn’t yet speak the language.

We’ve known Remi since his days as the pastry chef at Richmond’s Origo Club, which was when we featured him in our first few magazine volumes.

Originally from French Guiana, Remi moved to Canada in high school and, after taking on a dishwasher job at a small French bistro, found his passion for the bustling energy of the kitchen.

After learning the ropes at some of Vancouver’s finest kitchens, including Tapenade Bistro, Cioppino, and Chez Christophe, Remi honed his pastry skills and eventually doing his own thing.

Although Remi has yet to share exactly when he’ll be shutting down, you still have a chance to get your hands on his goodies until the end of 2025 at least.
