One of the city’s favourite and affordable Vietnamese banh mi shops, Ba Le, has just soft opened on May 13th their first Richmond outpost.
This marks a fresh expansion for a beloved brand that’s been dishing out delicious banh mi in Vancouver for 30 years.
Ba Le is a story of family, tradition, and the finest bánh mì around.
Ong Ba Le, the original proprietor and a man with a serious passion for Vietnamese iced coffee, can often be spotted savoring his daily cup of cà phê sữa đá.
His wife, Ba Ba Le, keeps a watchful eye on the bánh mì prep in the back, ensuring every sandwich meets her impeccable standards.
Their daughters have taken up the mantle, preparing bánh mì from scratch and keeping the family legacy alive, a legacy that began with Uncle Ba Le in Vietnam.
Now, there are many Vietnamese sandwich joints in the city, but Ba Le is one that constantly dukes it out with greats like Banh Mi Saigon in terms of local interest.
With over 18 varieties, including cold cut, meatball, lemongrass pork, and even vegan options, there’s one for everything to become a diehard fan.
And it’s no secret that Ba Le’s baguette buns are top notch, so much so that they even supply them to various other shops around town.
Although the new Richmond outpost isn’t in a more central area of the city, those who work and live around the Bridgeport area will be happy!
The Richmond location will mirror the Kingsway and Broadway locations for now.
According to the Ba Le team, they may consider additional menu items in the future like the line of specialty Vietnamese coffee drinks at the upcoming Rupert branch.
The Rupert location is expected to open near the end of the month.
