It looks like another bubble tea chain has quietly exited Vancouver.
We recently spotted a closure notice at Kung Fu Tea’s West Broadway storefront, revealing that the Taiwanese brand has permanently closed its only B.C. location.
The store’s last day of service was March 23, 2025, ending a six-year run in the city.
The heartfelt message posted on the window reads:
“Thank you so much for all the great support you have given in the past 6 years. It was an amazing journey to meet all of you and create a lot of wonderful memories.”
The note closes with a bittersweet line: “We might meet again soon.”
Kung Fu Tea first opened in Vancouver in 2018, offering its signature milk teas sweetened with pure honey instead of traditional sugar.
The brand also offered cheese foam-topped drinks, classic slushes, and a variety of customizable tea options, catering to a wide range of boba fans.
Unlike other cities across Canada that saw multiple Kung Fu Tea outlets, the West Broadway shop was the sole location in British Columbia.
Its quiet departure is part of a growing trend in the city’s bubble tea scene.
Last year, both Yifang and Machi Machi pulled out of B.C., closing all of their local shops.
But despite these exits, it isn’t stopping new brands from overseas making their way to Metro Vancouver.
For instance: Chahalo recently opened its first B.C. location in Richmond, and Molly Tea is expected to make its debut in the city soon.
