Canada’s eighth Costco Business Centre is officially open in New Westminster, bringing a huge new shopping option to Metro Vancouver.
The new location opened November 14th at 1085 Tanaka Court, just north of Highway 91A near Boyd Street.
It spans a massive 146,000 square feet and has created 290 local jobs.
This is also the first Costco Business Centre in British Columbia.
Unlike a traditional Costco warehouse, the Business Centre format is designed with restaurants, caterers, cafes, retailers, and offices in mind.
More than 70 percent of the products inside are unique to this model.
That means businesses can find items they usually can’t get at a regular Costco.
Inside, the New Westminster Business Centre carries more than 3,000 products.
Think bulk ingredients, commercial kitchen gear, cleaning supplies, restaurant disposables, office furniture, beverages, and equipment built for high-volume operations.
The cooler alone is nearly 14,000 square feet.
Even though it is designed for business owners, every Costco member is allowed to shop here.
Regular shoppers will still find a huge selection of items like meat, snacks, drinks, household staples, and personal care products.
But this Business Centre does not include a food court or a pharmacy.
So no hot dog combo after your shopping trip.
During opening week, the New Westminster location is running several Business Centre-only promotions.
Examples include discounts on induction cookers, commercial rice cookers, prosciutto, butter blocks, and food service equipment.
Hours are business-friendly too.
The centre opens at 7 am Monday to Saturday and at 9 am on Sundays.
The Business Centre model has already been successful in other provinces.
Costco says more of these locations are planned across Canada.
The opening of the New Westminster Business Centre adds a new option for local restaurants and businesses who rely on consistent pricing and bulk quantities.
And for everyday shoppers, it offers access to unique items they won’t find at a traditional warehouse.
The centre now joins a long list of recent openings and expansions across Metro Vancouver’s food and retail scene.
