It looks like downtown Vancouver is about to get a new bakery!
Spotted by a Noms Mag community member, signage for Tutti Freschi, an award-winning wholesale and retail bakery from Bellingham, Washington, has gone up at International Village Mall.
The new spot will take over the former Starbucks unit that closed earlier this year after more than 16 years of operation, marking Tutti Freschi’s first Canadian location.
This will be Tutti Freschi’s first Canadian location.
For those unfamiliar, Tutti Freschi earned a strong following south of the border, even being voted Best Bakery in 2024 in the Cascades Best awards by The Bellingham Herald.
Their offerings included Opera Cake, Tiramisu, delicate macarons, buttery croissants, gluten-free desserts, and vegan breads.
Everything is made with real butter, fresh cream, and without preservatives whenever possible.
But earlier this spring, the bakery’s story took an unexpected turn.
On April 24, Tutti Freschi announced that its Bellingham location would be closing the very next day.
In a heartfelt message, they explained that the pastry chef and owner was facing serious health issues and could no longer continue operating.
Loyal customers were thanked for their support and told, “We will miss you!”
Although their Bellingham bakery is closed, we did notice that there has been some progress in the Vancouver unit, signaling that things are likely still a go here.
Noms Magazine has reached out to Tutti Freschi for more details but has not received a response as of publishing.
