Fans of Chinese sauerkraut soup are in for a treat!
Popular self-serve malatang chain, Big Way Hot Pot, has just unveiled its newest broth.
And it’s a collaboration with one of China’s most famous sauerkraut brands, Tai Er.
The new Sauerkraut Broth was first tested earlier this month exclusively at Big Way’s Burnaby locations.
But they’ve now officially launched the broth on October 20, across all Big Way stores in Canada and the US.
This marks the brand’s first-ever collaboration broth, adding a bold new option to their lineup of customizable soup bases.
Like you’d expect from Tai Er, the broth packs a powerful punch of sour and savoury flavour, layered with notes of garlic and spice.
It captures the signature tang and depth that Tai Er is known for in its sauerkraut fish soup, a dish that helped the brand rise to fame across China and beyond.
For those unfamiliar, Tai Er is a leading Chinese restaurant chain specializing in Sichuan-style sauerkraut fish, with over 400 locations globally.
Their Richmond restaurant opened in 2023 and became an instant hit, known for its intensely aromatic broth and theatrical presentation.
Now, thanks to this collab, fans of both Big Way and Tai Er can enjoy the same tangy, soul-warming flavour in hot pot form and complete with all the DIY ingredient options Big Way is known for.
Earlier this month, Big Way also soft opened its new Gilmore location in Burnaby, which is now its largest branch in the city.
The addition of the Tai Er Sauerkraut Broth adds another exciting chapter to the brand’s growing dominance in the local food scene.
