If you thought Big Way Hot Pot was done expanding, think again.
A Noms Magazine community member recently spotted “Coming Soon” signage for the popular hot pot chain on the doors of the former Halal Guys unit on Robson Street.
This comes shortly after the NYC-famous chicken and rice brand shuttered its Vancouver outpost in August.
Here is where things get interesting.
It will mark Big Way’s third location along Robson Street alone.
For those keeping count:
They have a perpetually busy location right beside Sport Chek (roughly two blocks away).
And a West End location further down Robson.
The decision to open just two blocks away from their prime downtown spot suggests one thing: demand is overflowing.
They did the samething in Burnaby with two locations just steps away from each other along Kingsway.
The Big Way beside Sport Chek is known for having significant lineups during peak hours.
This new, smaller unit at the former Halal Guys spot could act as a relief valve to catch the overflow of hungry customers who don’t want to wait.
But unlike their typically spacious restaurants, the former Halal Guys space is rather narrow and small.
This move is just the latest in Big Way’s aggressive expansion across Metro Vancouver.
The brand shows no signs of slowing down, having recently opened locations in Olympic Village and North Vancouver.
According to their roadmap, they also have locations in progress for Surrey, Tsawwassen Mills and West Vancouver.
For hot pot lovers, this is great news.
It likely means shorter waits for your favourite broth.
For Robson Street, it signals that Big Way is officially the king of the corridor.
