The scent of freshly baked goods will soon fill the air in East Hastings as everyone’s fav 24/7 cafe, Breka, is springing up a new location in the area.
This news comes thanks to the eagle eyes of Noms Magazine community member, @scarlettsuh, who spotted the upcoming bakery’s signage.
Taking Over the Old Polonia Sausage House
The well-known and loved Vancouver establishment is expanding its footprint, taking over the unit previously occupied by Polonia Sausage House (2434 E Hastings St.), which has been vacant since March 2022.
This expansion is especially exciting for night owls and students in the area, who will soon have a new spot for late-night munchies and studying sessions.
Who is Breka Bakery & Cafe?
Breka Bakery & Cafe has been a staple of the Vancouver food scene since 2006, when it opened its doors in the Sunset neighbourhood at Fraser and 49th.
This local family business is known for maintaining the traditions of the German bakery it replaced while broadening its culinary horizons.
Today, Breka is synonymous with a wide array of high-quality offerings, including artisanal rye breads, donuts, pastries, and much more.
And of course – being one of the few spots in the city open 24/7.
A Growing Cafe Empire
The new East Hastings location will mark Breka’s eighth outpost in the Lower Mainland.
The signage outside the upcoming Breka location indicates that it will be opening in Spring 2024.
This will be good news for locals and students, assuring them that their cravings for a cozy ambiance and delicious eats will soon be satisfied at all hours.
