Another bubble tea chain has quietly closed one of its Metro Vancouver locations.
We noticed that the signage for Bengong’s Tea at Richmond’s Yaohan Centre has now been removed.

The store was previously had a sign that indicated it was “temporarily closed,” but it’s now clear that it has shut down permanently.
A Noms Mag community member (@alannblu) found that the unit is already being replaced by another bubble tea brand.
Founded in China around 2014, Bengong’s Tea is known as a new-style tea brand that merges traditional Chinese tea culture with modern design and ingredients.
The company prides itself on using high-quality, organic, and additive-free ingredients to create what it calls “every sip is original tea.”

Their drinks often feature fresh fruits, cheese foam, and handmade pearls — a balance of heritage and innovation that made the brand stand out when it entered the Canadian market.
The Richmond outpost, which opened in 2018, was Bengong’s first location in British Columbia.
The brand later expanded to multiple stores across Vancouver and Burnaby.
But as anyone familiar with Richmond’s food scene knows, the bubble tea market here is one of the toughest in the country.

With new chains constantly opening and customer preferences shifting toward more tea-forward drinks, even well-established brands have found it challenging to stay afloat.
Lasting seven years is a notable run in such a fast-changing landscape.
Fans of Bengong’s Tea can still find their drinks at other locations across Metro Vancouver, but this marks the end of the brand’s presence in Richmond.
Bengong’s Tea Richmond now joins other recently closed Richmond food spots such as Hao Chi Lai, Rice Cake Master, and Chew Chew Steveston.
