Another long-running Burnaby restaurant has closed its doors for good.
Roadside Spicy Pot, the Sichuan-style skewer hot pot spot on Kingsway, has officially shut down after roughly seven years in business.
The team confirmed the closure on Instagram on March 30 with a dramatic farewell post that read, “Thanks for all the love and support. The road ends here. The fire may fade, but the memories remain.”
If you have been following this story, we previously reported on the closure announcement earlier this year.
Before that, we also reported that the restaurant had been listed for sale.
Now it is officially done.
For those who never made it in, Roadside Spicy Pot was known for its chuan chuan dining format, a Sichuan street food tradition where you pick skewered ingredients and dip them into a communal pot of boiling, spiced broth.
The restaurant also offered an all-you-can-eat option that made it a go-to for group dinners and late night cravings on the Kingsway strip.
Beyond the food, the interior was a standout.

The space was designed to recreate the look and feel of 1970s and 80s Chengdu street stalls, complete with murals, vintage signage, and neon lighting that gave the whole place a transportive atmosphere.
It was the kind of restaurant that felt like more than just a meal.
The comments on their farewell post reflect that, with regulars thanking the team for the memories and asking whether they plan to reopen somewhere else.
So far, there has been no word on any plans for a new location.
Roadside Spicy Pot joins other recently closed Burnaby food spots like Bella Gelateria Brentwood, Lattea Crystal Mall, and American Cheesesteak Co. Metrotown.
