Another week, another OG spot is sadly saying goodbye.

Luckily, it isn’t goodbye for good!

Fresh Ideas Start Here (aka F.I.S.H), the longtime Burnaby seafood market that’s been serving up sustainable fish since 2008, has announced that it’s closing its retail shop at the end of April.

After 17 years in the game, the team shared the bittersweet news on March 31st via Instagram, noting they’re shifting their focus fully online through eatfish.ca.

So while this isn’t a full-on goodbye, it’s definitely the end of an era.

The heartfelt message from the crew reflected on the early days – opening up as a tiny seafood shop with a big dream – and how they built something special with the community over the years.

Starting April 30, they’ll stop offering fresh seafood in person and go full digital with delivery across BC.

That means lower delivery fees, frozen and fresh fish options, and even a new FISHFam rewards program coming soon.

Yes, you’ll still be able to get your wild local Sockeye salmon or uni fix – just without the friendly counter banter and in-person seafood convos.

The move is being framed as a “fresh beginning,” and honestly, it makes sense with where consumer habits are going.

But it still stings for longtime customers who’ve made F.I.S.H part of their weekly grocery ritual.

If you’ve ever stopped by their shop tucked along Market Crossing, you know how passionate the team is about sustainability, quality, and community.

And if you haven’t—well, time’s ticking before that in-store experience swims away for good.

Catch them in person before April 30 as they have also extended their Freezer Sale until then.

After that, your seafood cravings will have to be done via online.
