Last week, Cambie Village got itself a new burger spot.
But before you scroll past another burger announcement, you need to look at who is behind the grill.
This isn’t just a random opening.
It is actually the expansion of the popular Street Hawker from Main Street.
Even more interesting is exactly where they decided to set up shop.
They have taken over the former Potluck Hawker Eatery space at 3424 Cambie Street.
If that address sounds familiar, it is because Potluck was owned by the same team before it shut down back in October.
Basically, owners Justin Cheung and Dominic Sai are coming home to the neighbourhood where they started.
They are calling this new concept Street Hawker Turbo.
The menu leans into fast-casual comfort food with a focus on smash burgers and fried chicken sandwiches.
A major win for the community is that the beef and poultry are 100% Canadian and certified Halal.
You can expect heavy hitters like the Pad Kra Pow! Smash Burger.
They are also bringing over the “Golden Sand” wings which are a direct nod to a classic Potluck dish.
If you are looking for something different, keep an eye out for the Filet-O-Sally.
It is a crispy salmon katsu sandwich topped with tobiko tartar sauce.
To wash it all down, they are hand-spinning milkshakes in flavours you rarely see at a burger joint like Thai tea and milo.
They also have a liquor license for craft beers if you need something stronger.
The space itself is intimate with 30 seats and runs daily until 9PM.
Street Hawker Turbo now joins the list of recently opened food spots in Vancouver recently like Bun & Dumpling, Guffo Cafe on Robson, and Slo Coffee on Granville.
