And for the first time ever, those perfect little xiao long bao (XLB) with their exact 18 folds will be available in Canada.

If you’ve ever made a journey to Seattle just to get your DTF fix, you can now breathe easy and start making a reso.

Din Tai Fung’s Alberni outpost is now taking reservations for its soft opening from April 24–May 4, ahead of the grand opening on May 5.

But this isn’t just another dumpling joint.

Din Tai Fung is coming in hot with Michelin-acclaimed heritage, a sleek Rockwell Group-designed interior (think dumpling expo kitchen meets garden zen), and a mission to blend Taiwanese roots with Vancouver vibes.

“Vancouver is a city that values design, culture, and craftsmanship—and we knew our first Canadian restaurant had to reflect that,” says Aaron Yang, Co-CEO of DTF Restaurant.

We’re talking custom lanterns, rock gardens, and an open kitchen where you can watch those delicate XLBs come to life.

The restaurant will be able to seat more than 300 guests.

On the menu you’ll find their iconic Xiao Long Bao (hand-folded with precision), spicy wontons in house sauce, garlicky string beans, handmade noodles, and yes those chocolate XLBs are also coming.

Let’s not forget the deep roots: this isn’t some cash-grab import.

The DTF™ team is made up of the original Din Tai Fung fam, and they’re serious about bringing their culinary craft to Canada with purpose.

They’ve even teamed up with Yu Chung Ling, son of famed calligrapher Yu Youren, to create original artwork for the space and the city.

If you’re already planning your dumpling date night (or five), reservations are live on their official website.
