New Chinese Burger Specialty Spot ‘Mo-Ment’ To Open In Downtown Vancouver

Parts of Downtown Vancouver’s Granville Street food scene have had a rough time these past few years.

But there’s a new upcoming spot that might just flip that narrative.

Mo-Ment Crispy Burger, a new Chinese-style burger shop, is set to open soon on Granville Street, taking over the short-lived Grill Master unit.

If that address sounds familiar, it’s because this exact strip has become a bit of a cursed zone for restaurants: Grill Master, Pico Pizza, and Chaighai all came and went within like a year.

But this new concept might just break the streak.

We first spotted them undergoing renovations back in October 2024.

Mo-Ment calls itself a “Crispy Burger Specialist Shop”, meaning Chinese-style burgers are the main focus and quite novel for Vancouver.

If you’re new to the dish, a Chinese burger, or roujiamo (肉夹馍), is not your average beef-and-bun combo.

It’s a street food staple with roots in Shaanxi, typically made with slow-cooked, spiced pork or beef that’s stuffed inside a flaky, crispy bun—almost like a meat-stuffed flatbread crossed with a croissant.

The outer layer is pan-fried to get that signature crunch, while the inside stays juicy and flavourful.

In Vancouver, these Chinese burgers are mainly in the appetizer section and not the main focus. Whereas in Toronto has several Bingz, a well known Chinese burger chain, outlets.

From the window signage, Mo-Ment will not only be offering the authentic crispy meat burgers, but also clay pot-style rice noodles (土豆粉, tǔ dòu fěn), a starchy, chewy noodle dish served in rich, savoury broths with toppings.

Basically, this will be a spot for comfort food with bold regional flavour.

Inside, the space looks clean and modern, with bright red and gold accents, a sleek counter, and gold-legged tables and booths that hint at fast-casual service.

Menu screens and signage are already installed, so it seems like the finishing touches are in progress.

While there’s no official opening date yet and limited info online, Aburi Market is also opening just a block up, this stretch of Granville is getting some fresh food energy again.

Fingers crossed this crispy burger moment turns into something long-lasting.
