Oak Street is ready to welcome a fresh start as Comma Cafe takes over the previous Whitewood Cafe.
We spoke with owner Skye, who is behind the upcoming Korean cafe. This will be the first entrepreneurial venture for the husband and wife duo.
The couple’s experience includes working at JJ Bean for a year and a half to learn and prepare for this new opportunity.
The Vision Behind Comma Cafe
The name “Comma Cafe” reflects a unique philosophy.
“Just like how you are supposed to take a pause in a sentence where there is a comma, hopefully people can come and have a relaxing pause from their busy life,” Skye explained.
The café aims to create a “relaxing outdoor camping vibe” and provide a serene getaway for customers by infusing the space with an atmosphere that complements their coffee offerings.
The coffee menu at Comma Cafe will feature your usual caffeinated options, as well as a special menu that may include Korean-style iced coffee and vanilla cream lattes.
“Depending on availability, we will offer specialty coffee beans with hand drip…the special menu will change as we develop,” according to Skye underscoring a commitment to fresh and exciting offerings.
Food enthusiasts can look forward to home-baked items and a selection of wraps and sandwiches.
When asked whether Whitewood Cafe’s waffles will appear on the menu, Skye teased that it may in the future.
The café plans to open its doors after the Labour Day long weekend, in the first week of September, providing locals with a new spot to unwind, sip on specialty coffees, and indulge in tasty home-baked treats.
