If you have walked down Commercial Drive recently and wondered why the lights were out at Famoso Pizzeria + Bar, we now have the official answer.
While the signage change might feel sudden, the restaurant has confirmed that they have permanently shuttered this location.
According to an official announcement, their last day of service was actually November 29, 2025, marking the end of a run that lasted over 14 years.
In a heartfelt post to their customers, the team shared a simple message of gratitude: “Thank you for all the support over the years. We’re deeply thankful for your support.”
This specific location had been a fixture on “The Drive” since opening in 2012, known for its authentic fire ovens and a major renovation in 2022 that refreshed the space.
The unit won’t be staying empty for long, though.
We spotted “Coming Soon” signage already posted on the windows for a new concept called Violete.
While details are scarce, the name and branding suggest it will be another Italian restaurant, likely keeping the pizza and pasta spirit of that corner alive.
For fans who are missing their Neapolitan staples, the brand directed customers to their nearby locations that are still operating.
You can still find Famoso at Famoso Solo in Burnaby, as well as locations in Willowbrook (Langley) and Highstreet (Abbotsford).
Famoso joins a growing list of notable closures in the city, sitting alongside the recent departures of Hon’s in Olympic Village, Brathaus in Gastown, and Grandjoy Hot Pot in the West End.
