If you have walked past the Richmond Oval recently, you might have noticed a major shift at one of the local storefronts.
Back in October 2025, a Noms Magazine community member tipped us off that the indoor playground spot, Wonder Cafe, had shut down, with banners for something called Pho Capital draped over the signage.

At the time, details were scarce, but we just went back to investigate and found some major clues about who is moving in.
It turns out this isn’t just a generic name.
This appears to be the return of the long-standing Pho Capital from Coquitlam’s North Road.
That location had been a community fixture for over a decade but was forced to close in early 2025 following an explosion that shuttered all the shops in its plaza, including Kimbap Cheonguk.

It seems the team has decided to make a fresh start in Richmond.
However, keen-eyed fans will spot a detail on the new signage.
The text under the logo explicitly says “2022,” suggesting this is run by the new owners who took over the brand in 2022 rather than the original founders.

Peeking through the windows, the space is undergoing a massive transition.
What used to be a kid-centric playground cafe is being converted into a full-service sit-down restaurant.
The interior is nearing completion, with sturdy wooden tables lined up, though you can still see ladders and construction equipment in the back as they finish the final touches.

The exterior is already decked out with bright yellow lettering and red lanterns, signalling they are close to the finish line.
For those unfamiliar with the North Road spot, Pho Capital was known for its simple Vietnamese fare.
The window decals at the new Richmond outpost confirm a similar lineup, featuring classic bowls of pho, Rice with Grilled Pork Chops, spring rolls, and banh mi.
As for an opening date, the restaurant’s social media has been silent since 2024, but based on the state of the interior, it looks like they are aiming for a launch sometime this winter.
Pho Capital joins a lineup of upcoming food spots in Richmond, including the upcoming Oakberry, Hey Yearn, and Marugame Udon.
